AusAid, the Indonesian Supreme Court, and the Legal Reform
Program (LRP) jointly held a "Training for Commercial
Court Judges in Intellectual Property Rights (IPR)"
in Jakarta, from 31 March 2003 to 25 April 2003.
The training was aimed at educating the Commercial Court
Judges on IPR related issues and laws. To support this,
the training was attended by various IP practitioners participating
as trainees/speakers.
Mr. Justi Kusumah of S&T delivered a presentation on
copyright infringement and a recent case relating to the
infringement of computer programs. The presentationprovided
explanation of the provisions of the Copyright Law No. 19
of 2002 relating to copyright in computer programs, what
constitutes an infringement, and the remedies available
under Law. Mr. Kusumah also shared his experience in handling
the most recent copyright landmark case involving Microsoft.
